We all know by now that the 14th of February sees restaurants all over town heaving with love-struck lovers. Your favourite steak house has been booked out for weeks and the little Italian place down the road already has a waiting list. Valentine’s Day Open-Air Cinema

You might think that there cannot be anything more romantic than being snuggled up to your significant other under the stars watching a romance flick. Well, Rheboskloof Wine Estate has topped up the romance by showing Love Actually on Valentine’s Day. If that is not enough, they are adding in a picnic basket for two, hale bay seating, a bottle of wine and two branded glasses. Gates open at 5.30pm and the movie starts at 7.30pm. Valentine under the Stars

Why don’t you kick off Valentine’s Day early with this concert at Century City? Hosted on The Square on 12 February, this open air concert will celebrate the month of love with voices and song coming together with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra. It will bring together acts like Titilayo Adedokun, Katlego Maboe, Ike Moriz, Rouchelle Liedemann, Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, partners Riaan Hunter, The Grey and Brandon Phillips. Tickets are R350 and the show kicks off at 8.30pm.

Valentine’s Day with Ard Matthews  

If rock is more you a partner’s language of love, head over to Café Roux in Noordhoek this V-Day. The highly talented Ard Matthews, from Just Jinger fame, will be crooning to you in this great little music spot outside town. The show will be held outside in the Bedouin tent and dinner will be served from 7pm. Ticket prices do not include dinner, which is an la carte menu, and make sure to get a bottle of wine to share with your date while swaying to the acoustic set.

Be My Darling at Darling Brew

Darling Brewery will also be kicking the day of love off a bit early with their launch of their new pomegranate infused beer. Saturday the 11th will see the brewery coming alive with picnics, live music and food and beer pairings. Sunday will offer a decadent lunch and on the day of love itself, loved up couples will be able to do a full beer and food pairing. The costs vary, depending on what day you head through to Darling, and you can book via email.

If your relationship is looking for a bit of magic to be added to bring back the spark, Magic Nights at Truth Coffee HQ is the place to go. Get your date warmed up for Valentine’s Day with this two-for-one special on Monday Magic Nights. The night will offer two acts, Russell Fox and Alan Marriot and will be hosted by Marcel Oudejans. Delheim Fondue Picnic

Valentine’s Day seems like the perfect day to be spent sprawled out on the lawns of the Delheim Wine Estate. They will be hosting a fondue picnic in their gardens for ten lucky couples.  For R600 per couple, you will receive a picnic basket for two, a bottle of Delheim MCC and live music to woo you and your love. Valentines Day at Shimmy Beach Club

Treat that special person in your life to an evening overlooking the bay, with sand between your toes. Nothing says love more than a night on the beach, under the stars. The restaurant will be offering Japanese-style Bento Boxes from 6pm, and you and your loved one will be treated to a complimentary glass of G.H. Mumm Champagne. The Bento Boxes are R750 per couple, but if you are more in the mood for something else, you can order straight off the menu. Make sure to book soon.
